The B.Sc. Physics programme is mainly intended to develop an understanding of the basic concepts of physics and gaining knowledge to apply the laws of physics in explaining various natural phenomena. This programme aims in guiding students through various branches of Physics. Students, after undergoing this course gain skills such as scientific reasoning, mathematical, analytical and computational skill which helped them in setting goals to pursue a scientific career.

Programme Overview

 The Department of Physics offers a three year degree course in Physics  with Chemistry and Mathematics as complementary courses.  The aim of the course is to bridge the gap between plus-two and university level physics by providing a solid foundation in almost all areas of basic physics. The three year course comprises of six semesters with common courses, core courses, choice-based course, open course and complementary courses. The course entirely follows the syllabus and curriculum prescribed by Mahatma Gandhi University.

Career Opportunities

Upon successful completion of B Sc Physics degree course, one can avail many options depending on the area of interest and specialisation. There is ample scope for higher education as well as various career options (especially in R&D sectors). Those who wish to continue with the same field, they can opt for a master’s degree in various specialized areas in Physics like Masters in Physics, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Biophysics. Medical Physics and so on. There are lot of All India level entrance exams, like JAM, GATE through which one can advance their career studying in top institutes.

There are several career options in public as well as private sectors. They can pursue government jobs where graduation is a basic qualification. Another option is they can apply for short duration projects/internships in reasearch institutes.
