The Department of English which has been functioning since the inception of the college became full fledged in 2001 when the Undergraduate Course in English started. It has a commendable history of  inspired teaching and participatory learning. In the very second batch, we secured the 7th  Rank in  the B. A. English examination through exemplary performance. Our students secured the 6th, 7th and 8th  Ranks in the University Examinations in 2017, 3rd Rank in 2018 and 7th Rank in 2019. The  Department focuses on studying literature from the perspectives of cultural studies, feminism and  subaltern studies. By promoting multicultural identities and rejecting monolithic attitudes and binaries,  the department highlights openness and inclusion. The department organises Seminars, Expert Lectures  and Discussions to keep the student community conscious of the current developments in literary  studies and social issues. 

The students of the department plays an active role in the cultural events, sports and games thus ensuring their participation in extracurricular activities. Our students have won intercollegiate and university competitions in chess, photography and cultural events.
