Program Overview
Following the syllabus and curriculum prescribed by Mahatma Gandhi University, the Department of English focuses on teaching English Language and Literature, Cultural and Critical Theory emphasizing the perspectives of feminism, cultural studies and subaltern studies. Communication Skills in English
Objective
The certificate course in Communication Skills imparts the basic skills in communicating in English. it attempts to make students confident in using English in day to day interaction in the society and imparts essential skills:
To enhance the communication skills in English
To speak in English confidently in everyday life

The course seeks to introduce the student to the major elements that constitute cinema. Also, the attempt will be to equip the student to academically discuss cinema in terms of critiques and close analyses.
OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
On completion of the course, the student should be able to discern the following:
The broad contours of the history and aesthetics of films.
The overarching film genres and the basic terminology of film studies.
The distinction between mere appreciation of films and sustained ideological film analysis.
The questions raised by Cultural Studies and Feminism(s
