As one of the least risky sustainability practices and as a green way to improve campus safety, and to reduce the cost of running our educational facility, we replaced all the lighting arrangements such as incandescent or CFL bulbs that use moderately high electric energy to energy-efficient LED lightings which use comparatively less unit of electricity. We use the LED bulbs assembled by our own students as an entrepreneurial trait built among students through the HBC’s Entrepreneurial Development (ED) Club
By installing energy-efficient LED lighting technology, we could lower energy consumption, decrease maintenance costs, and lessen wear and tear on heating and cooling systems.
Our move to LED lighting isn’t just about going green and saving green. There are also tremendous advantages when it comes to HBC’s security. With better quality light and more durable lamps brightening our campus, the move to LEDs improves student safety and gives campus facility providers the peace of mind that comes with a long-lasting product. These lights can operate for up to 50,000 hours— or approximately eight years. The durability of the product leads to lower maintenance costs and higher staff productivity. That allows HBC’s staff to spend their time making our campus safer in other ways instead of constantly changing light bulbs. These LED lightings further support HBC’s CCTV systems or security cameras installed throughout our campus to ensure student safety: however, if the proper lighting isn’t in place, CCTV systems could be unusable and frustrating to view. It means, through these LED lightings we could also enhance our CCTV resolution.
