Department of History

The Department of History has steadily grown and emerged as one of the leading departments of the College since its inception. The department came into existence in 1995 with an aided programme in B. A. History. In 2014 the department was upgraded as a postgraduate department with MA History. This marked an important phase in the development of the department. The department is dynamic and keeps the college vibrant by providing increased opportunities in both curricular and extracurricular aspects. The department has had its thrust  on tribal studies. Department offers five certificate courses. The department has hosted regular Seminars and Workshops over the years. Our highlights are Oral History archives, Heritage Museum, Historica (manuscript Magazine), A shelf for Melukavu, Reading Club, Field Visits and a Vibrant Alumni. Department always enhances a research attitude and critical inquiring spirit amongst the students. We continue to explore new avenues by addressing the demands and issues of the times through knowledge dissemination.
